The jumping back and forth in time is usually a fun mechanic but this time it is not skillfully - instead, it confuses and slows down the story. We jump between characters that we never find enough details about - the book lets us in on just enough details to fet interested in them and then closes the book. We never learn enough, never go deep enough into the interesting details. It is clear as well, which character is the author’s favorite, as we learn most about one character vs others. A good premise, well written, but a disappointing execution.
