Tucked away in the hills of Tennessee is a place like no other. It is a place where well-known activists, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, and everyday people work together to fight for human rights for all people. Myles Horton and Don West started the Highlander Center in 1932. Highlander has helped in many areas, from mine workers' strikes to civil rights.
