A beautiful maiden and her father were unable to pay the king's taxes and were taken to the castle. The king promised their freedom if she could turn straw into gold. A little creature appeared and helped her turn the straw to gold but in the end demanded her first born child. The beautiful maiden married the prince and hey had a baby. The little creature came to claim his due and gave them a chance to keep their baby if they could guess his name. His name was Rumplestiltskin and through the prince's efforts they were able to learn his name and keep their baby.
